Thank you for signing up for the 2009 Gold Coast ITU Triathlon World Championships Enews Update. These updates will be sent on the 9th of every month as we lead into the launch of the 2009 Triathlon World Championships on 090909.
Plans for the event are in full swing. The event presents five days of triathlon competition, community activities, evening entertainment programs, corporate events and functions, along with one of the biggest Sport & Lifestyle Expo’s in the Southern Hemisphere. We hope you are looking forward to the event as much as we are. Information will continually be updated on our website - www.worldtriathlongoldcoast.com, so make it one of your favorites!
Entry in to ITU Triathlon World Championship events is only available through your National Federation. National Federation’s will receive entry guidelines and information in December 2008. Many National Federations have already arranged qualifying races within their county. Please contact your National Federation for further details.
ITU events that require entry through your National Federation include:
- ITU Triathlon World Championships
Elite | Under 23 | Junior | Age Group | AWAD (Athletes with a Disability)
- ITU Sprint Triathlon World Championships
Age Group
- ITU Aquathlon World Championships
Elite| Under 23 | Junior | Age Groups, AWAD (Athletes with a Disability)
ITU Elite/U23/Junior Aquathlon World Championships will be available to only those competitors qualifying through their National Federation as per ITU Rules.
Age Group competitors may enter the event directly online but must be members of their national federation and show proof of this at registration, no qualification criteria.
There are several events that are open to the general public, with entry available directly online in December 2008. These events include:
- ITU Sprint Triathlon World Championships
Two distances -Sprint & Enticer. No qualification criteria. Enter directly online.
- ITU Corporate Teams Triathlon & Teams Relay World Championships
The ITU Corporate Triathlon World Championships are accessible to all business or organisations wishing to enter teams. There are two Teams options available – the Corporate Teams Triathlon where every team member completes an enticer distance triathlon concurrently adding their times together for final results, and the Teams Relay where each member does only one leg of an Olympic distance triathlon and passes the timing chip onto the next member to complete the race.

*Please note that entry fees for the ITU Triathlon World Championships, ITU Sprint Triathlon World Championships, and ITU Corporate Teams Triathlon & Teams Relay World Championships all include an athlete pre race meal, post race banquet and party, entry to event, competitor t-shirt, and event memento. Further details on the entire package will be available in December 2008.
If you have been following the current world’s economic situation you will know that the Australian dollar is quite low at the moment and therefore any international travelers should be taking advantage of the situation and booking as soon as you can! For the current conversion on entry fees check out www.xe.com. On the 6th Nov 08 the $350.00 AUD entry fee was equal to approximately $235 USD, €183 Euro, or ₤148 GBP.
