Thank you for signing up for the 2009 Gold Coast ITU Triathlon World Championships Enews Update. These updates will be sent on the 9th of every month as we lead into the launch of the 2009 Triathlon World Championships on 090909.

With less than 10 months till the main event it’s time to think about competing and with so many events to choose from we thought we’d start by explaining some of them.

Saturday 12th September 2009
750 swim | 20km cycle | 5km run

To participate in the ITU Sprint Triathlon World Championships you must qualify through your National Federation. The Sprint Championships are only open to Age Groupers. Qualifying races are already underway in many countries. National Federations will receive their information packs in December outlining all entry details along with general event specific information. Test out the course!
If you’re Queensland based or planning a holiday to the Gold Coast in March 2009 you have the chance to test out the course at the Gold Coast Triathlon – Luke Harrop Memorial race, an Australian ITU Sprint Distance Qualifying race and ITU Triathlon Oceania Championships. Held on March 1st 2009 and covering a near exact course of the ITU Triathlon World Championships the Gold Coast Triathlon – Luke Harrop Memorial race provides the perfect opportunity to sample what you’re up for in September 09.

Be a part of the World Championships! Put a team together and get ready from some inter-office rivalry and jovial heckling as you and your team swim, run, and ride against competitors from around the world in one of the following corporate feature events;

ITU Corporate Teams Triathlon World Championships - “ALL FOR ONE”
Saturday 12th September 2009

Your selected team of three challengers concurrently complete an ‘enticer distance’ (300m swim / 10km cycle / 3km run) triathlon. As all members complete the whole triathlon and compete against each other as well as other teams, this event is a perfect opportunity for a little heckling and jovial inter-office rivalry! The amalgamated team time determines the results.

ITU Teams Relay Triathlon World Championships - “ONE FOR ALL”
Sunday 13th September 2009

Made famous by the Noosa Triathlon, this relay style event is the “Holy Grail” of all corporate triathlon events! Each team member must complete ONE LEG of the Olympic Distance Triathlon (1500m swim, 40km cycle, 10km run). The timing band will be passed to the next team member relay style. The final team time will reveal the ultimate corporate team champions.

Teams will be able to enter either event within the following categories:

• Men’s Corporate Team
• Women’s Corporate Team
• Mixed Corporate Team

As a first class international corporate event each team member must be a FULL TIME employee of the corporation, business, association or organization.
