Vancouver, Canada (July 28, 2008) - The International Triathlon Union (ITU) today announced additions to the 2009 Gold Coast ITU Triathlon World Championships slated for September 9-13, 2009. The Corporate Triathlon Championships and Age-Group Sprint World Championships will be included on the programme for the event, the penultimate prize on ITU's 2009 calendar.

"The Corporate and Sprint Championships will be a wonderful complement to an already exciting programme of events for the 21st edition of ITU's flagship event," said Sheila O'Kelly, ITU Director of the World Championships.

USM Events, the Local Organizing Committee, eagerly welcomed the Corporate and Sprint events to an already impressive line-up that includes elite, under23, junior, age-group Olympic distance, athletes with a disability (AWAD) and Aquathlon.

"We're in the business of running events and we can promise that competitors, sponsors, spectators and media will be treated to an event experience they will long remember for all the right reasons," said Garth Prowd, Managing Director of USM Events.

The 2009 Gold Coast ITU Triathlon World Championships are expected to attract more than 3,000 athletes from close to 60 countries. It will be the fourth time Australia will host the world championships and the first time since Perth successfully hosted in 2000.
