There are two major Airports that athletes may use to get to the Gold Coast:

The Gold Coast Airport (also known as Coolangatta Airport)
Located approximately 20kms south of the Gold Coast centre, Coolangatta Airport offers a variety of international and domestic flights on a variety of carriers;

Brisbane International Airport
Located close to the state’s capital city and approximately 80kms North of the Gold Coast, Brisbane airport offers direct connections to 26 international and 39 domestic locations. Operating from both international and domestic terminals (with an interconnecting monorail) it is Queensland’s most prominent airport.

Bus
The main bus service in and around the Gold Coast is ‘Surfside Buslines’ and their subsidiary ‘Gold Coast Shuttle’. Rail

Taxi

In Australia driving is on the LEFT hand side of the road, and ALL passengers are required (by law) to wear seatbelts or be fitted with an appropriate child restraint device.

The speed limit in built up areas is 50km/h, unless otherwise sign posted and varies between 50km/h and 110km/h in non-built up areas and motorways. All drivers must be below 0.05% Blood Alcohol Content, while probationary drivers must be 0.00%. Queensland has also recently introduced a random drug testing scheme and instituted a zero tolerance policy. 

Drivers License
It is necessary to be in possession of a valid Australian or international drivers licence when driving in Australia. International licenses in languages other than English, must be accompanied by an acceptable translation issued by an Australian Consulate or national motoring organisation (see www.transport.qld.gov.au for more information).

A daily shuttle bus will be in operation from Wednesday 9 September to Sunday 13 September.  This bus will service the Event Precinct (Southport Broadwater Parklands) south to Main Beach and Surfers Paradise.  Limited bus stops will ensure an efficient 30 minute loop.
